As a reminder, the RADEEMA solar sewage sludge drying station, which was put into service in May 2018, is a key part of the treatment and recovery process adopted by the major wastewater treatment and reuse project in Marrakech, d 'elsewhere registered by the United Nations (UNFCCC), in 2010, as a CDM project. The first of its kind in Africa and the largest on a global scale, the solar drying unit in Marrakech allows the treatment of more than 200 tonnes per day of sewage sludge, on an area of 10 hectares and for an investment of 147 million Dirhams. A pure concentrate of innovation, this plant, through its 40 greenhouses of 1440 m2 each, including 28 greenhouses for solar drying equipped with high-precision equipment for the turning and aeration of sludge, allows to bring to 80% the dryness of the sludge extracted instead of 20% currently recorded on leaving the WWTP and achieving a saving of 5 MW per day of thermal energy.
